Empowering refugee women to reach their full potential.

An independent, women-led nonprofit working in partnership for social change.

Refugee women seek a safe haven in Omaha where they can not only survive, but thrive:

a place to live, work, explore interests & safely grow their families.

Refugee Women Rising thoughtfully supports and empowers women from around the world as they reach their full potential personally and professionally.

Comprehensive Driver’s Education

As new community members, refugee women often become socially and geographically immobilized with domestic responsibilities, a lack of English language skills, and access to reliable transportation. To support women while they navigate these challenges, RWR offers comprehensive driver’s education programs — free of cost.

The preparation and sharing of traditional meals is one of the many ways refugee women embrace the vibrancy of their home country and foster new connections locally.

Culinary Opportunities

Women’s Wellness

The United Nations estimates 130 million people globally will be displaced by 2024. More than half of all these refugees originate from only three countries: Syria, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.

Research by he National Institute of Health supports culturally competent interventions, led by community peers, greatly improve refugee women's mental health, integration, and sense of belonging.

Thus RWR’s programming is by and for refugee women to support their social and emotional wellness.
