Refugee Women Rising welcomes all gifts and talents of volunteers, and we encourage you to try something innovative with us, too. All volunteers will receive training and support.

Lack of transportation is one of the major barriers to wellness and integration for refugee and immigrant women. The transportation volunteer plays a critical role in helping women to get out of isolation and become self- sufficient.
Refugee Women Rising’s wellness programming typically takes place on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12:30pm.
We occasionally have events on Thursdays and Fridays within the same time frames or in the evenings.
We love a weekly commitment (and our ladies are excited to form friendships) but welcome transportation volunteers on an ad-hoc basis as well.

Participants in our driving program need extra hands-on assistance with parking and backing up in parking lots. Join us as a Parking Lot Practice volunteer to drive with an adult student in a designated (empty) parking lot. This position could be on a regular or ad-hoc basis. Parking lot practice would be 30 minutes to 1 hour time commitment for a maximum of 3 hours per student. RWR has vehicles that can be used during this practice time.
-
RWR owns three vehicles (Honda Civic, Town & Country minivan, and a Lexus SUV). All autos are older than 12 years, thus regular care and maintenance are necessary for longevity.
Ensure vehicles are in working condition and safety compliant.
Renew annual registration, licensing, & inspection of vehicles.
On a regular basis, ensure vehicles have full gas tanks
Update and coordinate oil changes and maintenance checks.
Vehicles cleaned inside and out on a monthly basis.
Seek donor relationships for local mechanics and/or gas stations.

RWR works with women from around the world and uses interpreters daily. We invite you to engage your language or writing skills to broaden programming & opportunity for refugee women whose first language is not English. This position would require attendance at various RWR programs, such as workshops, classes, driving education, meetings, etc. Programming typically occurs on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12:30pm. Occasionally programming occurs on Thursdays or Fridays.
-
RWR offices seek assistance with translating documents or flyers from English to various languages other than English.

How would you be able to enhance our programming with your expertise? (i.e. provide educational sessions). If your current or former occupation would assist us in providing culturally competent programming - let us know!
Volunteer opportunities occur at both of our office locations.
